The club are delighted to announce the arrivals of two new signings to commence the January transfer window with former Cardiff City Women players, Danielle Broadhurst and Catherine Walsh joining the club.

Both players will bring significant experience and quality to the club, having both spent long spells with the Bluebirds including numerous league and cup titles in recent seasons and Champions League appearances.

Broadhurst, 31, has long had a strong reputation as one of the best midfielders in Wales top-flight league and will bring great technical ability to the Barry midfield as well as a goalscoring threat. Walsh, 29, also has a strong pedigree, having been a prolific goalscorer for the Bluebirds in recent years, as well as having international honours to her name.

On joining the club, Broadhurst commented, “I’m really excited to be joining such a great club and set up with fantastic people. Hopefully, with mine and Catherine’s experience added to the youth of the team we can drive the club forward and up the league. Barry has some great young talent coming through so the future is looking promising. The girls have made both of us feel so welcome, it’s like a breath of fresh air. My goals for the rest of this season are to help the team finish as high as possible, to play football without fear and enjoy doing what I love the most.

On her arrival to Jenner Park, Walsh stated, “I am enjoying my time already at the club, with a great bunch of girls and staff plus enjoying the new challenge. I am excited to see what I can bring to the club and help develop the team further and looking forward to the rest of the season.”

Barry Town as a club has a great reputation for having a strong fan base, club structure and football development. I saw this as a great opportunity to be involved in a club that is always striving to be better. My main goals for the season is to help the team as much as possible move up the table, hopefully score a few goals and to help carry on building the foundations for the future of the club.”

On the new arrivals, Women’s manager Stevie McCarthy stated, “I am delighted to welcome both Danielle and Cath to Barry Town and these signings are an indication of the upward trajectory that the club is currently experiencing. Both players will add great quality to the team as we look to strengthen our position in the Adran Premier, and I look forward to working with both of them.

McCarthy-Campbell added, “We are starting to lay strong foundations as we look to build our presence and performance within the Adran Premier with a view to climbing up the league with ambitions to end Phase 1 strongly in preparation for the Phase 2 fixtures. We are also looking to bring in an additional number of players to further strengthen the squad which will only add further competition to the first team squad.

The Linnets return to Jenner Park this weekend with a home fixture against The New Saints with a 2pm kick off.
