Barry Town U16's cruise to FAW Cup Final victory to record a third cup win in 5 seasons.

Barry Town Utd U16 girls went into the FAW Cup Final looking to claim the most prestigious competition for junior girls football in Wales.

In there way would be Gwent based club, Abergavenny Town. With both clubs having already played each other twice this season in the South Wales Women's & Girls League in exciting encounters, the final was set be another opportunity for both teams to showcase their talent.

Barry started the game in excellent fashion and got off to a perfect start when Captain Tay Wynne struck an excellent long range effort that found the net to put the Linnets 1-0 up inside the first 5 minutes. Just minutes later, Barry took full control and doubled their lead when a shot from Amara Murphy-Sharil found it's way past the goalkeeper.

Wynne was having a great first half for Barry and grabbed her second of the day on 19 minutes following a great move which saw Aliyah Hull release the Barry captain before slotting home past the goalkeeper.

Just before the break, Barry netted a fourth goal, this time Aimee Deacon went on an excellent run and squeezed a shot into the net to put Barry in total command at half-time at 4-0.

To their credit, Abergavenny battled strongly in the second half and didn't let their heads drop despite Barry dominating possession. Deacon grabbed her second goal on 52 minutes and the scoring was completed by Hull on 60 minutes who thoroughly deserved her goal after an impressive performance leading the front-line.

Barry ran out comfortable winners on the day, but credit must go to their valiant opponents for making the day a great occasion for both clubs.

For Barry, this was a third success in the competition over a 5 year period and congratulations go to the players, coaching staff for an excellent campaign.
